Visiotech presents the new entry and exit turnstiles to professionally complete an access control system. These units can connect to a wide range of access control systems of any brand through their relay inputs.
There are different turnstile models, which are differentiated mainly by the type of opening offered as well as the appearance of the unit:
- Tripod Turnstiles with Semi-Automatic Arm: These are the most well-known turnstiles. They usually consist of three rotating arms that turn both ways, for entrances or exits, as they are bi-directional turnstiles. A remarkable feature of these devices is that their arm can be dropped in case of electricity supply loss, making them safe in the event of fires. They are mostly used in highly frequented spaces, where the time required to cross the border should be minimum, such as theme parks, gym facilities or train and metro stations, and in places where it is necessary to put many turnstiles or where the installation space available is limited.
- Tripod Turnstiles with Motorized Arm: these are visually identical to the previous turnstiles, with the difference that the turn of the arms is performed automatically. When the turnstile is liberated by the access control devices, it waits until someone is close and performs the turn automatically thanks to its motor, so it is not necessary for the user to operate it. Alike the previous ones, these devices are more silent.
- Motorized Flap Barriers: These flap barriers are made up by a pair of turnstiles, creating a single lane. Each device presents a flap barrier that retracts upward inside the turnstile upon opening through an access control system. They are usually used in offices, as they do not require a fast opening, but a more attractive aesthetic and advanced features, such as automatic programming of entrances and exits or anti-tailgating.
- Motorized Swing Barriers: This is the most ground-breaking model regarding appearance and opening speed, as well as one of the most silent. They are made up of two turnstiles, creating a single lane, with a swing barrier on each that, upon entering the correct access identification, swings towards the walking direction, making the crossing speedier. These turnstiles are usually installed in places where crossing speed and aesthetic are rather important aspects. They are also known as non-stop speed gates, as they present a larger lane dimension, and they open towards the walking direction. Thanks to these characteristics, another function for which these turnstiles are usually used is for the access of people with reduced mobility. In this case, they are used individually (although they can also be used in a dual way), and the dimension of the unit tends to be more reduced.
- Molinetes:Full Height Turnstiles: The size is their key feature of this model. These are turnstiles with rotating arms, but alike tripod turnstiles, the arms of this kind of model turn on a vertical axis. The structure of the turnstile creates a lane through which people can access, and this, together with its elevated height makes unauthorized crossing to be extremely complicated. This reduces the need of extra supervision upon intrusion in these kinds of installations. They are generally used outdoors, in spaces with great flow of people where a minimum crossing time is required, such as theme parks or sports stadiums.
It is incredibly important that these units can be integrated with different access controllers available in the market. Access turnstiles available at Visiotech are prepared for these integrations, as they have an opening control panel where it can be easily introduced any relay output of different devices with fingerprint, facial, vein or palm recognition seamlessly.
The installation of access control systems in turnstiles is quite easy: they come ready with universal lids where a card reader of any manufacturer can be integrated, although it is also possible to install other kinds of readers, as well as autonomous access devices through additional supports specific for turnstiles. Apart from this, turnstiles have enough space inside to store the access controllers with batteries and power supply units.
As for the security expected for turnstiles, it is necessary that they can lower their arm barrier, open doors or unblock the crossing control method upon power lockdown or fire entrance. For this reason, these turnstiles are ready for projects that so require this feature.
On the other hand, it is important to point out that all Visiotech’s access turnstiles are bidirectional, which means that an access control can be installed for both the entrance and the exit. Apart from this, there are many functions that can be included regarding the opening. Depending on the kind of installation, this can be configured as:
- Free entrance and exit.
- Controlled entrance and exit with an access control system.
- Entrance through access control system and free exit, and vice versa.
- Only entrance or only exit.
As for tripods with semiautomatic arms and turnstiles, this feature is realized manually, by blocking the specific motor. As for the rest of the models, it is configured through display menu on the control plate. Furthermore, through this plate diverse kinds of openings can be configured, in order to adapt the turnstiles to any installation.
Motorized lanes, motorized barriers and turnstiles usually present more specific functions, such as anti-tailgating, so that a person cannot access the installation entering together with another authorized person, or auto-reset. Furthermore, they have additional features such as people counting for both entrance and exit.
Another key aspect to point out is that ZKTeco tripods and turnstiles present a strength regulation mechanic system for the turning of the arms, easily manageable without the need of any tools. This system offers more versatility to the turnstile models where it is implemented, allowing them to adapt better to the needs of specific installations.
To complete an access control system with turnstiles, it is necessary to have proper fences and enclosures of different measures. These can be made in polycarbonate or acrylic that resemble crystal, or simply a stainless-steel veranda that blocks the crossing. Apart from this, there are also doors in these enclosements, to allow the entrance to the installation of great amounts of cargo or specific for the crossing of people with disability.
As for turnstiles that are compatible with reduced mobility, motorized turnstiles are the best option to comply with the regulations, which specifies that they should be at least 800 mm wide, although there also are 900 mm turnstiles with greater amplitude completely adapted for wheelchairs.
In conclusion, Visiotech’s new access control turnstiles are the best choice to integrate with any access control system, offering an unbeatable price and top-quality, from the tripod turnstile up to the sophisticated motorized swing barriers.
