Although all hard drives may appear similar and we usually only take into account their capacity, there is a series of factors, according to the use they will be given, which are critical for their performance and consumption and consequently for a better result as a function of our requirements.
The manufacturers differentiate the work applications according to distinct series. In particular, Western Digital takes an approach which facilitates the selection of ranges by color. The optimization of the Purple WD allows the simultaneous recording of up to 32 HD cameras on 8 hard drives (depending on recorder capacity), improving the times when the drive is unoccupied, which results in reduced energy consumption and temperature, thereby lengthening its useful life and reliability.
Furthermore the compatibility with the various recorders has been tested and added to the new launches by the manufacturers, thereby optimizing even more the performance and reliability. Moreover the exterior design of the WD Purple has been created for and tested on the principal video recorder frames.
Comparatively WD Purple implies a clear advantage compared to the common hard drives or those not specifically designed for video surveillance, given that apart from permitting a simultaneous continuous flow from more cameras without interruption, its technology gives an increased durability by increasing the unoccupied time and reducing noise.
