Until now, if we wanted to incorporate IP cameras to our analog installations, we needed to acquire an NVR and use it together with our DVR or otherwise seek a hybrid solution which would incorporate the necessary analog connections and capacity for various IP cameras.
If our initial requirements for the incorporation of IP cameras to the installation do no surpass 1 or 2 (up to 4 in some specific model) the hybridization of our DVR presents itself as the ideal solution, given that with a simple firmware update we can increase the capacity of the DVR to support IP cameras connected via the same local network to which the recorder is connected, normally via a switch.
The result we obtain is similar to that of a hybrid recorder with 1 to 4 IP channels, according to the base DVR model .The capacity and concrete modes depend on the model and number of analog DVR channels.
They can be listed as follows:
X-SECURITY
At present the supported models are the entire 5 series, models of 4, 8 and 16 channels.
They substitute analog channels with IP. One analog channel for 1 IP 720p channel. Two analog channels for 1 IP 1080p channel.
Serie 5 with 4 CH
- 4 analog
- 3 analog + 1 IP 720p
- 2 analog + 2 IP 720p or 1 IP 1080p
|
Serie 5 with 8 CH
- 8 analog
- 6 analog + 2 IP 720p or 1 IP 1080p
|
Serie 5 with 16 CH
- 16 analog
- 14 analog+ 2 IP 720p or 1 IP 1080p
- 12 analog+ 4 IP 720p or 2 IP 1080p
|
SAFIRE
At present the supported models the 72xxHWI-SH Series, 4, 8 and 16 channel models. These add IP channels to the existing analog channels.
DVR7204HWI-SH
- 4 analog channels + 1 IP 720p
|
DVR7208HWI-SH
- 8 analog channels + 2 IP 1080p
|
DVR7216HWI-SH
- 16 analog channels + 2 IP 1080p

Depending on the manufacturer, the use of IP channels may be substitutive of an analog cannel, as is the case with X-Security; or added to the existing analog channels, as occurs with Safire.
In either case, after updating the firmware, our hybrid DVR may continue functioning in completely analog mode should we so wish, which implies that we “ignore” the IP capacity and work with all analog channels.
If our DVR has been recently acquired, it is possible that it already has the hybrid firmware installed, which means that we do not need to update it as we already enjoy these functions.
With regard to its operation, once the hybrid firmware is active, the capabilities for the search for IP cameras in the local network and their manual integration are added, identical to those of NVR X-Security and Safire
The hybridized X-Security DVR localize and allow X-Security and Onvif IP Cameras to be added, but only work well with X-Security IP cameras.
With respect to hybridized Safire DVR, these only locate and permit the addition of Safire IP cameras, they do not function with the IP cameras of other manufacturers or Onvif.
Through a free firmware update the pre-existing installations may be given a new lease of life thanks to the incorporation of IP cameras, permitting their scalability according to specific requirements.
As always, our team is available to solve any doubts which may arise, and also to guide you and provide you with necessary tools during the process of updating the firmware.
